Making Progress!

Wow! I feel like I am at full speed with all sorts of things happening around here. Billy and I both received our passports yesterday, which was less than 2 weeks after we applied for them. That is awesome that they got them to us so quickly. We also booked our Honeymoon!! We are so excited to head to Jamaica after the wedding in March.

We had a baby shower for Betsy this past weekend and it was so nice. She got so many wonderful things for Baby Caleb, now all she needs is him! She has another shower in Dallas this weekend, but I am not going.

Billy went to Colorado for their football game last weekend, but they are not letting him go to East Carolina this weekend:( It seems like the coaches do not really care about him. It is their first year and Billy's last, and so they do not seem to need to build any type of loyalty. This really stinks since it is Billy's Senior year, but what can you do? So I will be with him tomorrow and we will watch the game on TV. All I have to say is they better win this one! They need it.

Please be praying for a few things. First off, all the families that are dealing with the mess that Hurricane Ike left. There are many people still without power. Also, there is a company that owned 2 very nice wedding/reception halls. They filed bankruptcy this week and have cancelled all weddings (with it unlikely that the brides will get any money back). I can not even imagine this scenerio happening, but I know a couple people effected. And many of the people lost thousands because they paid the whole thing up front.

Hopefully things, will slow down just a bit, but I highly doubt it. We are down to 169 days!!!!

Power Restored!

As of this morning, power has been restored to our household! I am so glad that I am now able to watch tv, get on the internet, and turn on lights. Since we have not had power, I have not had to go to work at all this week. I have been able to look over all the wedding details and figure out what still needs to be done.

I am in the process of picking out invitations, finding a cake place, and now that I have received my credit card, booking our honeymoon! We have a number of other details left to do, but we still have 176 to get to them.

Billy is off to Colorado State for the football game this weekend, so hopefully they can win! He is so happy to be going because he has missed the past 2 games. I guess that is all the news for now!

Ike Can't Stop Me :)

Ike is about to make landfall, but I am still going strong. Since everything was cancelled today, including work, I had the whole morning to be productive. I slept in a little later then usual and then my mind started rolling. I decided to call the post office to see if they were open, and they were. Today would be the perfect day to go and get our passports taken care of. I called Billy and we headed out! There were only a couple people in front of us, so the process was very quick! We should be receiving our passports in about 3 weeks. We then ran by the grocery store to pick up some last minute hurricane items.

Now as soon as I get my new credit card, we can book our honeymoon! We finally decided where we wanted to go. We will be going to Jamaica (just like the siblings did). We found a Sandals resort that looks very nice. It is called Sandals Whitehouse, European Village and Spa. We are very excited about being together, on a beach, for 6 days in Jamaica. Here is a picture of where we will be!

They have a beautiful 2 mile span of beach, and every suite has an oceanview! This is definitely another big check off of our list. Only 183 days until I become Mrs. Hartford!

For the rest of the night I will be on Ike watch, so please be praying for all the homes and families in harm's way. Please also be praying for the Keppner's. John, who was a classmate of mine for many years and a fellow teammate and friend of Billy's from Creek, was hit and killed on the highway on Wednesday night while changing a flat tire. Please pray for his family and all his friends who loved him dearly. He will definitely be missed.

Smells Like Roses

We have finally signed the florist contract. We decided to go with Always Floral. I am so excited about all the flowers! We are going to have a variety of flowers including roses, stargazer lilies, tulips, hydrangea, gerber daisies, and a few others! They will be in corals, fuschias, hot pinks, and a few bursts of lime green. It is going to be very bright and colorful and I am so excited about it!

I went and checked out one of the hotels we are looking to block rooms at. It is almost right across the street from the church so it is very convenient. I am going to look at one more this weekend (if I am not blown away by the hurricane) so I can have rooms blocked and ready for people to start reserving ASAP. We are down to 185 days! Time is definitely going quickly. My next big goal is to find a bakery and get a cake set up. Then I will need to move on to ordering invitations! OMG, it will be here before we know it!

191 Days to go!

Time is flying by and I know that the next few months will seem like a whirlwind. I am anxiously waiting, as is the rest of the family, especially Bryan and Betsy, for the BP's to be able to go and get their precious boy. He is on the other side of the globe and we just want him to be here with us. I am praying constantly that they will get to hold him in their arms soon!

Football season has started and although Billy is not playing due to his ACL, we are still going to games and he is staying involved. Football, both UH and Texans (and Aggies) tend to make the fall weeks fly by! I know that the 191 days will be gone soon. Please pray that Billy makes a full and speedy recovery. He is not able to go with the team this weekend to OSU because the doctors don't want him flying yet. This is very disappointing since this is a big game, so I am praying that his spirits stay up. I know it is hard for him to not be playing and now he won't even get to be there.

On to the wedding news. On Saturday my mom and I went to decide on linens for the reception. We picked out chair covers as well as table linens. Chair covers are completely necessary, so I did not debate my mom on getting these. lol. If you are unsure of what exactly I am talking about, here is a picture of chair covers:

Ours will be ivory chair covers with satin coral sashes to match the bridesmaids dresses. For the actual tables we went with ivory satin floor length linens. We did not want to overdo the coral cover so we did not do coral on the tables. We will be having a beautiful coral overlay on the cake table.

As for the checklist in my last post, I don't think I have accomplished anything. I will be trying my best to take care of some of those soon!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and that their favorite football team wins their game!
